American Accounting Association 2009 Annual Meeting: Accounting at a Tipping Point

August 1-5, 2009: New York, New York (http://aaahq.org/AM2009/index.cfm)
Speakers: Anand Karat (VP, AME Learning) and Penny Parker (Coordinator, Business Accounting Programs, Fanshawe College)
Title: Leading to Succeed: High-impact Accounting Education
Brief: This session for accounting and business faculty members will demonstrate a proven high-impact method of teaching accounting that has been successfully adopted by colleges and universities for their accounting programs and has provided students with an invaluable learning experience.

Statistically, the AME method of teaching accounting has caused a reduction in accounting drop-out rates (from 18% to 4%), has resulted in a greater number of students transferring to accounting major, (jumping from approximately 10% to 20%) and has helped students receive overall grades that are higher than the historical average.

Professors have described the AME methodology as “refreshing”, “intriguing”, “never thought it could be this simple” and “you have broken the mold of the way this subject is taught”. Students using the AME program are consistently amazed by their academic results and now believe that learning accounting is an achievable and rewarding experience!

Through this interactive session, clickers will be distributed to the audience to effectively evaluate the course.
