What's New

Financial  Accounting Principles V5.0 expands on the foundation of supporting student engagement and success by offering these new and revised features as a financial accounting e-book:

•  NEW educational content and updates to ensure all resources are as current, relevant, and accurate as possible.

•  NEW easy-to-read design ensures continued student engagement both in the classroom and at home.

•  NEW “Data Analytics in Action” box feature appears throughout the chapters in the second half of the book, highlighting ways in which data can be used to support a company’s operations and strategic planning.

•  AME Engage™ includes a new online module on data analytics, to extend the coverage now provided in Chapter 9, Accounting Information Systems. This module has a downloadable Microsoft Excel data set containing a full year of data

• Chapter 15, Corporations: Contributed Capital and Dividends, has new learning objectives that cover closing entries for corporations and calculating retained earnings.

•  Chapter 16, Corporations: The Financial Statements, has been reorganized to better distinguish between GAAP and IFRS in regard to preparing financial statements. •  Chapter 17: Long-Term Liabilities, incorporates boxed features called “Using Financial Calculators” that show keystrokes and complement the same calculations being done with the present value tables.

•  Chapter 20, Financial Statement Analysis, uses Tilly’s, Inc. as an example throughout. The analysis includes a discussion of the effects of the global pandemic and signs of recovery.

•  Select workbook questions are now available in Microsoft Excel format for download from AME Engage™.

•  Section of practice questions in every workbook chapter focuses on individual concepts and calculations for each learning objective. The workbook also includes new Application Questions throughout the chapters to expand the range of difficulty and offer different approaches to the topics.
